Europe by Colour: Red

A photo blogging challenge called Capture the Colour has inspired me to create my own series of posts featuring my favourite travel photos in five colour categories: red, blue, green, yellow and white.

Today's post starts with the most vibrant of colours, red, and this lovely basket of ripe strawberries in a shop window in the town of Tournus in Burgundy.

The lips are actually a ceramic sofa, shown during the A-Part International Festival of Contemporary Art held in Les Baux de Provence in 2012. The piece by Bertrand Lavier is titled La Bocca.

I couldn't resist taking a photo of this refreshing salad and rosé wine served for lunch at Brasserie de L'Industrie in St. Rémy de Provence.

The little red tourist train takes visitors on a 30-minute tour past some of the major sights in Monaco, like the Prince's Palace, Monte Carlo Casino and Oceanographic Museum. This photo was taken on The Rock in front of the Palace.

The city of Lyon is considered to be the capital of French gastronomy and these colourful cakes and tarts at the market hall Les Halles Paul Bocuse are proof.
